About the event

Winter Solstice Dinner Itinerary

Arrival & Warm Welcome (5:30 - 6:00 PM)

  • Hot Beverage Station: Greet guests with a selection of seasonal drinks, like mulled wine, spiced cider, hot cocoa, and herbal teas.

  • Winter Warmth Kits: Provide small gift bags with hand warmers, mini candles, or winter spice sachets to set the tone for a cozy evening.

Setting Intentions & Solstice Ritual (6:00 - 6:15 PM)

  • Candle Lighting Ceremony: Each guest lights a candle as they share a simple intention, wish, or gratitude for the upcoming year. Arrange candles in a central display as a symbol of collective warmth and light.

  • Written Intentions: Offer slips of paper for guests to write down their wishes or intentions for the year. Collect these in a "Wish Jar" for an end-of-night ritual.

Appetizers & Mingling (6:15 - 6:45 PM)

  • Seasonal Bites: Serve small appetizers with winter flavors, such as roasted chestnuts, cranberry brie bites, or spiced nuts.

  • Fire Pit & Lantern Walk (Optional): If you have outdoor space, consider a short lantern-lit walk or gathering around a fire pit to reflect on the quiet beauty of winter.

Seated Dinner (6:45 - 8:00 PM)

  • First Course – Warming Soup or Salad: Start with a winter soup (like butternut squash or mushroom bisque) or a winter greens salad with roasted root vegetables and seasonal fruits.

  • Main Course – Comfort Classics: Serve a hearty winter main course, such as roasted poultry, a vegetarian wellington, or braised short ribs, with seasonal sides like garlic mashed potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, and spiced carrots.

  • Winter Solstice Toast: Raise a glass to the return of the sun, embracing the moment of warmth and connection.

Dessert & Reflective Activity (8:00 - 8:30 PM)

  • Solstice Sweets: Indulge in seasonal desserts like spiced ginger cake, pear and cranberry tart, or warm bread pudding with caramel sauce.

  • Reflection Activity: Invite guests to share one memorable moment from the past year and a hope for the upcoming year. Create a cozy circle for sharing or keep it more informal around the table.

Winter Solstice Ritual (8:30 - 8:45 PM)

  • Release & Renewal: Burn the written intentions collected earlier as a symbolic release of the past year’s challenges and a call for new beginnings.

  • Closing Candle Ritual: Blow out candles together to signify the end of the solstice night and the coming of the new light in days ahead.

Farewell & Parting Gifts (8:45 - 9:00 PM)

  • Gift of Light: Send guests home with a small candle or mini lantern to symbolize the growing light in the days to come.

  • Solstice Blessing: Share a final heartfelt blessing or words of warmth and encouragement for the new year.
